This specialized diagnostic tool is used by mechanics to test, simulate, and calibrate mechanical and hydraulic diesel engine governors (commonly for Caterpillar 3114, 3116, and 3126 engines) prior to installation. Key components of this testing assembly include: * Base Unit & Storage: The testing machinery is built onto a metal tray. The entire assembly is designed to be stored in a large, heavy-duty green metal box labeled "Caterpillar Service Tool". * Power & Drive System: Rotational power is provided by a 1/2 HP Leeson electric motor. This motor is coupled to a Winkopp Variator, which is an adjustable speed drive manufactured by Peerless-Winsmith, Inc. used to simulate varying engine RPMs. * Speed Monitoring: An OTC Digital Photo Tachometer is mounted to the upper section of the bench to provide highly accurate speed readings during the calibration process. * Hydraulic System: The setup includes a fluid reservoir tank that features the primary manufacturer label for the bench. Additionally, the system utilizes a yellow Caterpillar fluid filter, various pressurized hoses, and multiple analog gauges to supply and monitor fluid pressure during testing.
